Our talk this week was from John Hunt who presented “Joseph Lister and his Connection with Torbay”.
John presented both a detailed and fascinating account of his life which was located in Scotland before his move South.
His great achievement was the introduction of the use of antiseptics in surgery. Whilst his work was widely criticised in his early career he later received world wide acclaim for revolutionising surgery.
The number of members attending is slowly growing with 24 attending this meeting.
