Report by Paul Young, our Speaker Finder:-
Our talk this week was given by Sandie Perraton who worked for Tindle Newspapers for 17 years becoming Managing Director of nine of their titles. She reflected on her extensive experience as well as the success of Sir Ray Tindle who built one of the largest newspaper businesses in the country. Whilst we have become used to receiving talks that are supported by visual aids in the form of a PowerPoint presentation Sandie was a speaker who was able to keep the attention of her audience without that support. More questions were asked by the membership at the end of this talk than at almost any other recent presentation.
Meeting Report 9th February
This week we received a presentation from David MacVeigh who spoke about Bletchley Park and it’s role during the Second World War. Whilst many of us will have seen the Hollywood film on the subject David was able to present a much broader picture of events explaining that the many successes of Bletchley were as a result of a team effort. This was an extremely successful meeting which was well attended.
