This week our speaker was David Hinchliffe and the title of his talk was “Kiwi’s in Torquay “.
David is a very experienced presenter and he has given talks to our club on many occasions in the past and as usual this was a fascinating and very enjoyable presentation. It was full of local interest and explained in considerable detail how wounded New Zealand troops came to Torquay to convalesce during the First World War. Their treatment placed great emphasis on fresh air and exercise through working on the land but they also became very much an integral part of the local social scene.
Overall an excellent talk from an excellent speaker.
