Our speaker this week was Julia Tremlett who helped us enormously by agreeing at very short notice to make a presentation to the club.
Julia spoke about the National Garden Scheme here in Devon. The scheme donates a huge amount of money to beneficiaries including;
Marie Curie £525,000
MacMillan Cancer Support £500,000
Hospice UK £500,000
Almost 100 gardens here in Devon are part of the scheme and they range in size from very small back gardens to huge grounds surrounding beautiful houses. They open to visitors on various dates and are extremely popular. Julia is a very experienced speakers and her presentation was well illustrated and humorous. Overall a great success.
