Our Speaker Finder Paul Young reports:-
This week our speaker was John Risdon whose talk was called “The History of the Brixham Fishery”.
John is a local man who has presented to our club before and lives in Galmpton. He is extremely well known across Torbay and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of local history.
John took us on a journey from the earliest days of fishing in the bay right up to the current day arrangements where the total value of the catch sold in Brixham Fish Market last year was in excess of £41 million.
This was a fascinating presentation with 26 members attending.
