Our meeting this week enjoyed a very interesting presentation by Mike Rowley entitled “HMS Victoria “.
Mike was a mining engineer before changing direction and running a successful business teaching diving. He became a very expert diver on wrecks and HMS Victoria, which sank in the Mediterranean, was one such wreck on which he dived in 2008.
This was a fascinating presentation which explained how HMS Victoria collided with another Royal Navy battleship whilst on exercise and sank very quickly.
Mike supported the talk with an excellent video of the actual dive. 24 members attended but it is hoped that this number will increase as the year progresses.
