The Space Race by Arthur Sercombe.

Our speaker this week was Arthur Sercombe, who is one of our own club members, and his talk was entitled “The Space Race”
Like many others Arthur was anxious that he did a good job as a presenter but he need not have worried as this turned out to be an excellent presentation.
Arthur explained the competition that existed between the USA and Russia in the development of nuclear weapons during the 1950s.
However, he focused mainly on the development of the USA’s land based intercontinental ballistic missiles during the 1970s and their operation.
This was a detailed and very professional presentation that included excellent visual aids in the form of diagrams and photographs.
