The History of Exeter Aiport
This week’s Talk was attended by 22 members with apologies for absence from 5 members.

Our Speaker Finder, Paul Young reports:-
This week our speaker was Chris Wiseman who presented “The History of Exeter Airport”.
Whilst Chris explained the establishment of the airport as a civilian airfield his main focus was on the site as an RAF station during the Second World War.
Fighter planes flew from the site for a number of years, however, in preparation for D Day the site became a base for American transport aircraft who were to ferry US paratroopers and supplies across the English Channel.
This was a detailed and interesting presentation that was well supported by numerous photographs.
It brought back childhood memories for a number of the members present and generated many questions.

Chris presented a display of many of the aircraft stationed at. RAF Exeter.
Chris has his own very special website to accompany his researches and this is well worth a visit at rafexeter.co.uk
Chris’s website was created and designed in memory of all those who served, and of those who gave their lives, from all nations, whilst serving at RAF Exeter (formerly RAF Clyst Honiton)
The fees he receives from his lectures are donated to the RAF Benevolent Fund. You can read Chris’s profile blicking on this link https://exeterairportmemories.com/my-profile
