Today’s talk was given by Jim Redman entitled “The Kings African Rifles”

Our Speaker Finder Paul Young reports:-
This week our talk was presented by Jim Redman who spoke about the history of the Kings African Rifles, a Regiment of the British Army that most of us knew very little about.
As a young man Jim was an officer in the Regiment serving in various locations in Africa and saw action on a number of occasions.
Jim explained how the Regiment was finally broken up in order to form the basis of a number of national armies that we in Africa today.
This was a fascinating presentation, very well illustrated and given by an excellent speaker.

One photograph that Jim showed us (above) produced a big laugh from the audience when he told us ” Possibly the most non-racist comment that I’ve known was when my sister showed this photo to her friend. This friend looked at this photo for a long time and then said to my sister “Which one is your brother?” “
Our photographer Tony Taft was not at today’s meeting but after researching the subject presents the following photos for your further study

If anyone reaches the end the Report they might like to view this video I took of Storm Babet this morning. The video was taken from Inside the building so the rain on the outside of the window detracts from the quality.. Sorry about that, and also sorry if you see adverts on the video. It is of course a FREE YouTube account.
