Meeting Report 10th April 2024

Today’s meeting was attended by 21 members with 3 Apologies.

Our Speaker Finder Paul Young reports:;
This weeks speaker was Louis Brzozka from Torquay who gave an excellent presentation entitled an “Introduction to Genealogy”.

Louis explained how public records of births, marriages and deaths have developed over the centuries. The first introduction being King Henry VIII requiring his newly created Church of England to keep records.

Louis explained how public records have developed over the years and how they have driven the development of public interest in family history. This has been supported by the development of the internet and, more recently, DNA testing and analysis.

This was an excellent talk which generated a large number of questions from the twenty-two members present. In addition many members made personal approaches to Louis at the end of the morning session.
