Our meeting this week suffered from a relatively poor attendance of 19 members.
Our speaker was John Risdon who presented “Totnes – Ancient Royal Borough and Market Town”. John is one of our very favourite speakers and he has presented a number of talks for us all of which have been outstanding and this was no different.
We learnt today of the development and growth of Totnes from the very earliest of times. Johns encyclopaedic knowledge, which is the result of detailed research plus considerable local knowledge brought to life the history of the town. In addition his sheer enthusiasm for his subject captured his audience.
This presentation was supported with excellent historical drawings and photographs and the interest of the membership was demonstrated by the great number of questions at the end.
