Wartime GIs invade Torquay

Following on from this week’s hugely popular talk about Glen Miller, Tony Taft recounts his encounter with some wartime GIs on Torquay seafront this morning

Tony writes:-

I passed these three when I was on the bus and thought “did I really see that?” it’s not something you see on Torquay seafront.
I turned to the lady sitting behind me and asked if she had just seen three soldiers and she said she hadn’t:
I thought I had just had an hallucination, so I got off the bus and waited for them to catch up, and thankfully they did and kindly posed for me.
I did not have the chance to ask them why they were dressed like that because they seemed to be in a hurry to go.
At least I am not losing the plot well not yet.

Tony Taft further reports:

The GI’s were doing a sponsored walk in uniform between Brixham and Torquay to raise money for the British Legion.
