Following on from this week’s hugely popular talk about Glen Miller, Tony Taft recounts his encounter with some wartime GIs on Torquay seafront this morning

Tony writes:-
I passed these three when I was on the bus and thought “did I really see that?” it’s not something you see on Torquay seafront.
I turned to the lady sitting behind me and asked if she had just seen three soldiers and she said she hadn’t:
I thought I had just had an hallucination, so I got off the bus and waited for them to catch up, and thankfully they did and kindly posed for me.
I did not have the chance to ask them why they were dressed like that because they seemed to be in a hurry to go.
At least I am not losing the plot well not yet.

The GI’s were doing a sponsored walk in uniform between Brixham and Torquay to raise money for the British Legion.
